
About Lutheran Service Society
Celebrating over 100 years of service, Lutheran Service Society is a nonprofit, faith-based provider of social services that enhances the quality of life and promotes the dignity and independence of persons in need. To accomplish this, Lutheran Service Society maintains senior activities and programs, adoption and permanency services, after school programs, food and nutritional programs, Meals On Wheels programs, affordable housing, senior centers, and senior support programs in western Pennsylvania and the surrounding region. Lutheran Service Society also seeks to develop programs to address unmet needs in the communities it serves and to expand its services into under-served communities.

Governance & Affiliation
Lutheran Service Society proudly serves the region as a social ministry organization of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). Direct organizational oversight of the agency is provided by its 16-member Board of Directors, which is made up of appointed, synod-elected, and board-elected members. Governance of the agency is provided by the Southwestern Pennsylvania Synod, the Northwestern Pennsylvania Synod, and the West Virginia-Western Maryland Synod of the ELCA.
