Gina Scicchitano
Many college students use any free time to catch up on studies or much needed sleep, especially if they find themselves with a Friday morning free from classes. But at 8:30 each Friday morning, you can find Gina Scicchitano in the kitchen of Tri-Hill Valley Meals On Wheels, helping prepare meals for those who need them.
Gina, a junior pre-pharmacy major, says she started volunteering for Meals On Wheels because she wanted to give her time to an organization that was dedicated to helping people in need.
Volunteering alongside 3 fellow University of Pittsburgh students each week, Gina helps to package the hot and cold meals that are prepared for the consumers, and also gets the meal carriers ready for delivery. (Gina is pictured at the far right with fellow Pitt students Rosa Ryoo, Maureen McGarvey, and Lindsay McMenamin. The four girls volunteer together each Friday at Tri-Hill Valley Meals On Wheels.)
"It's very rewarding," says Gina about volunteering with the kitchen. "I always leave feeling that my time was well spent because I was able to help."
In addition to a busy school schedule and volunteering with Meals On Wheels, Gina also volunteers with UPMC Shadyside every week, and she enjoys running and swimming to de-stress. Thanks for your help, Gina!
