What is SeniorNet?

SeniorNet is an international non-profit membership organization providing adults 50 and older with access to computer technology and the Internet so they can enhance their lives and share their knowledge and wisdom with the rest of society. Locally, SeniorNet is sponsored by The Lutheran Service Society of Western Pennsylvania (LSS).

Where are local SeniorNet classes offered?

The main LSS SeniorNet Learning Center is located in Bellevue. Satellite centers are located in Franklin Park and East Liberty.

How do I become a member of LSS SeniorNet?

Simply complete a membership application and pay the membership fee of $40.00 (make check payable to “SeniorNet”). All new members of LSS SeniorNet receive their first class for free. Membership applications are available by contacting Norm Mast at 412-734-9330 or nmast@lsswpa.org.

Are there any other fees?

The tuition fee is $30 for all four (4) week courses. Workshop tuition is $10.00. Tuition fees help us pay for the cost of equipment and services at our learning centers. Tuition fees are payable to “LSS.”

How do I select a course?

LSS SeniorNet offers a wide variety of courses ranging from offerings for seniors with no prior computer experience to more advanced users. To select a course simply refer to the schedule of courses for the learning center of your choice. Forward your check (payable to “LSS”) for $30.00 to LSS SeniorNet,
440 Lincoln Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15202. Please note class size is limited to six students. Your place in a course is guaranteed when we receive your tuition payment. We highly recommend paying your tuition as soon as possible to ensure a spot in the course of your choice.

How long are courses?

Each SeniorNet course meets for four (4) consecutive weeks at the designated learning center. Each session lasts for two (2) hours. Workshops are one session only - approximately 90 minutes.

How can I keep up on LSS SeniorNet events and activities?

Visit the LSS website at www.lsswpa.org. From the homepage, check the events calendar for SeniorNet activities.

What other programs does LSS SeniorNet sponsor?

LSS SeniorNet holds workshops at its affiliated learning centers and other locations in the area. Workshops focus on one specific aspect of computer technology. Workshop tuition is $10.00. Please contact Norm Mast at 412-734-9330 or nmast@lsswpa.org for the workshop schedule.

LSS SeniorNet sponsors a Membership Meeting & SeniorNet User Group (SNUG) at the Bellevue Learning Center. The Membership/SNUG meets the first Thursday of every month to share information and discuss a wide variety of computer-related topics. Meeting time is 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.

LSS SeniorNet also supports a Photo Club for members interested in digital photography. The Photo Club meets the third Thursday of each month from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm in the Bellevue Learning Center.

What is the LSS SeniorNet refund policy for membership and tuition?

Membership dues and tuition fees are not refundable. If you pay your tuition fee and are unable to attend the class you selected, your tuition will be applied to another class of your choice.
