Springboard Supports Urban League in Providing a Happy Thanksgiving for 400

On November 12, Springboard Kitchens participated in the Urban League's Thanksgiving Food Distribution held at the August Wilson Center. Families from around the city of Pittsburgh signed up to receive onsite health services, other referrals, and a very large box of food--all the items needed to prepare a full Thanksgiving dinner (including a gift card for a turkey).

Springboard Kitchens staff (Corey and Josh) came in early and prepared a hot Thanksgiving meal for the 400 people in attendance, which allowed them to sample what a homecooked Thanksgiving meal should taste like. The meal included turkey, stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce, yams, and green beans. Springboard students Cody, Chris, Matt, and Blanche helped to serve the dinner at the event alongside students and staff from Bidwell's Culinary school.

The event was a great example of community organizations coming together to help local families. Many thanks to the Urban League for putting on a wonderful event and including Springboard in the effort.
