State-of-the-Art Center for Adults 50+ Now Open!

The Center at the Mall is now open!  This beautiful new community center, located in the Sears corridor of the Beaver Valley Mall in Center Township, Beaver County, Pa, offers a wide variety of educational, recreational, and health-related activities for adults over 50 who want to stay fit and active.  The center features a computer lab, a spacious dining room and coffee bar, a lounge with a television and lending library, a pool table, a massage room, meeting space for groups, and classroom / workshop space.  A state-of-the-art fitness center with shower facilities and lockers will become available for membership in the coming weeks.  Some of this month's scheduled activities include line dance instruction, musical entertainment, card parties, massages, and yoga.

To participate, just show up at the main entrance anytime after 7:30AM Monday through Saturday (center closes at 6PM on Mondays, 4PM on Fridays, and 8PM the rest of the week), and choose any or all of the available activities.  A hot lunch is available Monday through Friday, but participants are asked to call 724-728-1422 at least one day in advance to reserve a meal.  On Saturdays, a deli is open all day for a la carte ordering.

Most of the center's programs are offered at no charge, but donations are requested to assist in the success of the center.  Some programs, such as the fitness center, will require a membership and/or separate fees.

The Center at the Mall has replaced the Monaca Senior Center in Beaver County, and continues to be managed by Lutheran Service Society under contract with the Beaver County Office on Aging.  Sharon Keller (Center Director), Shirley Tadich, and Kaye Reese, who worked at the prior center location, are expanding their roles to help the new center be a success.  The following employees were hired due to the opening of the new center:

Petra McMahan, Center Manager

Linda Semovoski, Dinning Room and Catering Manager

Tom Youtes, Custodian

Stop by the center to meet the staff and to tour the new facilities.  You can also call the center at 724-728-1422 for more information.
