How To Help

Volunteer

With nearly 8,000 consumers to serve each year, it is no surprise that one of our biggest needs with this program is a strong corps of volunteers!

Individual Volunteers

Individuals are needed to help in the kitchen to prepare meals (must be 16 or older) and to go on deliveries to consumers' homes. It is a great way to meet people in your community. Help is needed most on weekday mornings, and individuals can volunteer on a daily, weekly, monthly, or even a seasonal basis.

Congregations, Community Groups, & Youth Groups

Your group can adopt a local kitchen as a service project. Plenty of one-time and ongoing opportunities are available.

Businesses

Employers can enroll in our Employee Release program for Meals On Wheels, where employees are allowed time off during the work day to deliver meals. Many companies choose one day per month that a small group of employees will help at the local kitchen.

Donate

Because not all consumers are able to contribute towards the cost of their meal, the program relies on outside donations to allow the service to continue. You can help continue Lutheran Service Society's Meals On Wheels program with financial support.

Kitchens are also in need of supplies, like paper products, that can add up in cost. Crafts and other items to be used for favors for the consumers are also a welcome contribution.
