Adult Protective Services
As many as one in seven seniors nationwide falls victim to elder abuse. Through Allegheny County's Protective Services program, Lutheran Service Society investigates allegations of abuse that threatens the health, safety, and welfare of senior citizens living in northern Allegheny County. The program is administered under the Older Adults Protective Services Act (OAPSA) and provides immediate intervention for seniors at risk of abandonment, neglect, abuse, or financial exploitation.
