St. Afterschool

St. Afterschool is a community-driven, volunteer-based program that has been serving at-risk youth in southwestern Pennsylvania for over 20 years. It was developed within congregations to serve communities and continues to be run by committed individuals who conduct the activities out of true caring for the children and families in their program and community. The program offers families the ability to provide their children with a healthy meal for only 50 cents per day, as well as tutoring and creative activities. It is a significant resource for concerned parents and community members who must work until after the time their children are finished with school, or who may not be able to afford traditional after school care.

In July 2008, St. Afterschool officially became a part of the Lutheran Service Society family of programming, as a subsidiary of the agency. The program maintains its separate 501(c)(3) status and board of directors.
